New California Industrial Storm Water Permit Requirements

Background

The State Water Board has adopted the new Industrial General Permit. The Adoption date was April 1, 2014.  The Effective Date is July 1, 2015.  Once effective, this Industrial General Permit will replace the current Industrial General Permit (97-03-DWQ). This General Permit is different from the previous permit in the following areas:

  • Minimum Best Management Practices (BMPs)
  • CWA Section 303(d) Impairment
  • No Exposure Certification (NEC)
  • Electronic Reporting Requirements
  • Numeric Action Levels (NALs)
  • Inspections and Sampling Frequency
  • Exceedance Response Actions (ERA)
  • Design Storm Standards for Treatment Control BMPs
  • Training Requirements
  • Compliance Groups
